I can't think of any other football chairman that would do this. It doesn't take a genius to work out our probable line up by a process of elimination. Southon has been dropping hints in the same manner the last couple of days no doubt as a result of phone calls to Gold.
Can't we act like other clubs and let the manager keep the opposition guessing until an hour before kick off?

Re: Big game this Newcastle one.....
All games in this Division are tough. Newcastle are a decent team but have not got more points that some of their performances deserved as they have been struggling to score.

We have to work out a system at home that is not so vulnerable to the counter attack and/or teams that sit deep and press us when we are in possession. Of course it has not helped when we had the likes of Nolan and Noble and no wide players making it so easy to press us high up the pitch with our sloooow, predictable build up play. Also the lack of width not only exposed our full backs who had few passing options. So the assumption is that we will line up with one or both of our two new wide men in the starting 11. Bilic seems to be indicating that he will stay loyal to the 11 who got the victory at Liverpool. But we may arguably have the same lack of width problem we had against Leicester and Bournemouth where we left ourselves with little defensive protection as we tried to force things. It could well be the same against the Barcodes who will defend deep. I suppose Nolan is not starting and Lanzini seems to have a good work ethic so we will have 11 on the pitch and that is a start.

Hard to say how it will go but we have been struggling taking the game to other teams for a long while. Against L'Arse and the Mickies we were happy to allow them to have possession and sit deep and push forward on the break ourselves. Like I say, its a problem we have had for a long time and especially with BFS's tactics and players. We just could not not play a possession game and that is what Bilic is trying to get us to do at home. The new additions will help but who knows what will happen. Interesting game on Monday but it may take a while longer to work out how to play at home.

I think he's just showing how strong the bench could be. I doubt he's really given away any closely guarded secrets.

Gold is a fucking idiot predicting what our bench could be tomorrow night. What's got into the silly old fool?

It's real 3-pointer at this stage of the season!

How many games into the season are we now?

It really should be the same 11 and it should be the most easy team talk ever.

Play your best, win the game, keep the shirt

Play below your best, don't win the game, then we have quality in EVER position waiting for your shirt.

Why wouldn't Lanzini keep his place? I would think scoring one and making one at Anfield should really mean keeping the shirt.

The one upside of a defeat is that Chelsea would be bottom 3

This could be our bench against Newcastle. dg

Just waffle or an indication that Lanzini keeps his place?

How can this fifth game define our season after winning 2 away games against Arsenal and Liverpool, and loosing two home games against Leicester and Bournemouth?

Exiting yes, but not defining

Re: Big game this Newcastle one.....
Not sure they had a tough start. Could have been tougher and easier. Home to Arsenal and Southampton, away Man Utd and Swansea.
It is time for a home win though and this would be a great time to get it. It will also give Stomper some 'gloating' rights over his bar code family members. :-)

>>> a game we should comfortably win against a team in the relegation zone.

I totally disagree with that. Newcastle have been solid in a tough set of opening fixtures, and I think they'll be top 10 this season. It's a stern test for us at this stage imo.

Slight hystericism but a game we should comfortably win against a team in the relegation zone. Anything else would be a disappointment

Re: Big game this Newcastle one.....
I'm not sure it's that crucial but it will be very interesting to see how we approach it. I would imagine we'll be a bit more structured going forward with the forward players having a bit more defensive responsibilty when we lose the ball.

Re: Big game this Newcastle one.....
I don't think its a season defining match.

IMHO there is sense of great expectation for a massive west ham win because of the great business we've done towards the end of the transfer window. That coupled with our below par home performances this season.
